SNSI works across the scholarly communications sector, bringing together the people and organizations best placed to tackle our shared cybersecurity challenges. We work primarily with publishers, librarians, and IT and cybersecurity teams. But we are also keen to engage with university leadership, research offices, policymakers, and anyone who cares about cybersecurity in scholarly communications.

IT and Cybersecurity Teams
IT and cybersecurity professionals in scholarly institutions manage authentication, access, and infrastructure risk across complex, interconnected systems. The threat landscape they navigate is wide ranging and fast moving.
SNSI connects IT and cybersecurity teams with publishers and institutions working on shared challenges, supporting cross-sector intelligence sharing and collaboration.
Librarians
Library systems hold large volumes of personal and research data, making them a frequent target for ransomware, credential theft, and phishing. Librarians are often on the front line facing these threats.
SNSI supports the library community with practical resources, shared intelligence, and a connection to the wider network addressing these risks across the sector.
Publishers
Publishers are central to our mission and form the foundation of our membership. They are also a frequent target for content piracy, and attacks on platform integrity.
SNSI gives publishers a shared space to pool intelligence, build collective advocacy, and strengthen the security of the scholarly record alongside peers who face the same threats.
Other stakeholders
Cybersecurity is not just an issue for publishers, a challenge for librarians, or an obstacle for institutions. This is an issue that affects all of us, and a problem we believe is best addressed together. Our work therefore extends beyond these three groups.
